Hoda Kotb Announced As Matt Lauer’s Replacement on ‘Today’

It’s official! Hoda Kotb will co-anchor the Today show alongside Savannah Guthie, after Matt Lauer’s firing for sexual harassment. Guthrie made the announcement on January 2 to open the show.

“Today it’s 2018 and we are kicking off the year right because Hoda is the co-anchor of Today. Let’s give her a round of applause. This has to be the most popular decision NBC News has ever made and I’m so thrilled,” Guthrie, 46, said of the unusual decision to have two female co-anchors.

Kotb, 53, has been co-hosting NBC’s 10 a.m. hour with Kathie Lee Gifford for several years, and is slated to continue in that role, as well.
