Elizabeth Vargas, a reporter for ABC News, has returned to a rehabilitation center to receive treatment for alcohol dependency.
“As so many other recovering alcoholics know, overcoming the disease can be a long and incredibly difficult process,” Vargas said in a statement. “I feel I have let myself, my co-workers and most importantly my family down and for that I am ashamed and sorry.”
A rep for ABC said that the network is “squarely behind her” and looks forward to her recovery and her return to work.
Vargas spent several weeks in rehab last fall, also for alcohol addiction.
