For anyone wondering whether Michael Phelps still has what it takes to win gold on the Olympic stage, Sunday night provided an answer.
Phelps played an integral role in the U.S. Men’s 4×100 meter freestyle relay as he and three teammates claimed victory in a closely contested race. Phelps’ fiancé Nicole Johnson and their three-month-old son, Boomer, were in attendance to cheer him on.
“To have him watch the potential last races of my career is something I look forward to being able to share with him,” Phelps said of Boomer’s attendance.
This will be Phelps’ fifth and final Olympic Games.
