Rapper Wyclef Jean was handcuffed during a traffic stop on March 22 when L.A. County Sherriff’s deputies mistook him for the suspect in a nearby gas station robbery. Jean, 47, alleges he was treated unfairly by the officers, who he says slapped the bandana off his head, and he is considering a lawsuit.
“When I got out of the car and they rushed me, I felt like running. You feel instant fear because all you see is guns, and you’re a citizen,” Jean says. “I thought, ‘Oh, sh-t, this must be my end date.’”
Jean was eventually released when the officers realized he was not the robbery suspect.
