According to Iggy Azalea, the alleged beef that has been reported between herself and Britney Spears is nothing but a fabricated story drummed up by the media.
It all started on Monday, when Azalea tweeted out a message saying that she credited the less-than-enthusiastic response to her recent “Pretty Girls” collaboration with Spears to the lack of promotion behind it.
From there, stories began popping up all over the place, suggesting that Azalea was slamming Spears and her team for not holding up their end of the deal.
“I am honestly not surprised but still really saddened that the media is trying to create a ‘beef’ between @britneyspears and myself,” Azalea wrote on Twitter on Tuesday. “We remain friends and I have haven’t said anything negative at all about her. Does wishing we had promoted a single more make me the bad guy? I feel like the media wants women in music to get out and mud wrestle each other. As a woman I take great offense. Women in the media should be able to have a grown up and subjective opinion without it being more than it is. It’s disappointing. No one is throwing ‘shade’ or ‘shots’ on either side of the table. The girl is my friend and I support her 100{2a98bf2729aecc592d140a2cce3c15f01a3984e0fa1e08bd6495043072994e7a}. I feel like the press just wants to see girls be overtly sexual to one another, and have to real opinion other than ‘I love it!’’ I’m over it. Women in music are not the same as a teen drama. Stop making us all out to be, we are business women & artists. Not mean girls.”
