After Nearly 30 Years, N.W.A. Reunites for Coachella Performance

When drama over royalties ended N.W.A.’s collaboration nearly 30 years ago, no one thought the break-out ‘80s hip hop group would perform together again. Ice Cube surprised fans at his Coachella show on April 23, however, when he welcomed MC Ren, DJ Yella and Dr. Dre to the stage.

The crowd went wild as the original N.W.A. members, along with the late Eric “Eazy E” Wright’s son, performed their 1988 anthem “Straight Outta Compton.” They also performed Tupac Shakur’s “California Love” and Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg’s “Still D.R.E.”

The surprise show marked the first time N.W.A. had performed together since 1989.
