Joel Madden and Nicole Richie each spend a lot of time in the spotlight for their careers, but when it comes to their home life, the Good Charlotte singer says they have made a conscious effort to ditch the cameras.
“[There] are people who think we want to be in tabloids, like we’re asking someone to surprise us with a camera,” he told Details. “If I was only interested in people seeing me, I’d be on Nicole’s show, and as a family we made a firm decision not to do that. The show is totally Nicole’s thing. The family is our thing, and we protect it.”
Madden and Richie wed in 2010 and are the parents of daughter Harlow, 6, and Sparrow, 4.
