Elizabeth Banks made her directorial debut with 2015’s Pitch Perfect 2, and the film’s $69 million opening landed her among the highest grossing first-time directors in history. However, Banks recently announced that she is giving up the director’s chair for the upcoming Pitch Perfect 3.
“It was all timing,” she said at the PGA Produced By conference in Culver City, California. “It butts up against our kids’ stuff in a way that I wasn’t comfortable with.”
Though she is focusing on family at the moment, the mom of two is scheduled to direct the upcoming Charlie’s Angels sequel.
