Tracy Morgan sat down for an interview with Matt Lauer on the Today show on Monday and couldn’t help but get emotional while recalling the tragic car crash that left him critically injured and killed one of his closest friends, comedian James McNair.
“I can’t believe I’m here. I can’t believe I’m in front of you,” Morgan told Lauer with tears in his eyes. “Just seeing the tragedy that happened, it touches me.”
The actor then went on to admit that he’s had a rough past year.
“Every day I would just watch the accident on YouTube,” he said. “One day, I came across [McNair’s] funeral on YouTube, and I lost it for about a week. … I had to know what happened to my friend. I had to pay my respects. And that was my way.”
