Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving may have scored 22 points in the 2017 NBA All-Star Game on February 19, but it’s the young star’s comments about the Earth being flat that continue to make headlines.
“This is not even a conspiracy theory,” Irving, 24, said during a podcast interview on February 16. “The Earth is flat… I’m telling you, it’s right in front of our faces. They lie to us.”
Since that time, Irving has relayed his astonishment at what is considered “news,” opening a larger discussion about the role news media plays in society.
“We could ask relevant questions like, ‘What’s going on with the world, like what’s really going on?’” he later explained to USA Today.
