Bestselling author J.K. Rowling took to Twitter on May 2 to apologize for killing off beloved character Remus Lupin in the Harry Potter series.
“Once again, it’s the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts so, as promised, I shall apologise for a death. This year: Remus Lupin,” Rowling wrote to her legions of fans. “Arthur [Weasley] lived, so Lupin had to die. I’m sorry. I didn’t enjoy doing it.”
“The only time my editor ever saw me cry was over the fate of [his son] Teddy,” Rowling added.
Rowling published a similar apology on May 2, 2015, asking fans for forgiveness for the fate of Fred Weasley in the series.
