It was a long time coming for Leonardo DiCaprio. The five-time Oscar nominated actor finally took home the coveted award last night, and the crowd at the Dolby Theatre honored the actor with thunderous applause as he took the stage.
DiCaprio, 41, called The Revenant “true storytelling” and expressed gratitude for having been involved in the film. His guest for the evening, proud mom Irmelin, looked on from the audience.
In line with his well-known social activist platform, DiCaprio also used his moment in the spotlight to touch on the importance of world leaders acting to stem the damage caused by climate change.
