On Friday, One Direction gave their first interview since the departure of former band member Zayn Malik and admitted to The Sun that it’s been a difficult transition.
“It’s been a tough few weeks, probably the toughest since the band was formed five years ago,” Liam Payne told the paper. “We’re gutted that Zayn chose to leave, but now after a few performances as a four-piece, we’re feeling confident and are determined to carry on stronger than ever.
As previously reported, Malik announced his departure from the band on Monday, just days after initially announcing that he would be taking a brief break from their current tour.
