As the shocking news of music icon Prince’s untimely death broke, fans and fellow musicians took to social media to share messages of grief and celebration of the artist’s life and work. For some, grief was replaced by anger when Justin Bieber threw shade at the late artist’s memory via a comment on guitarist Andrew Watt’s Instagram.
Watt told followers he was “devastated” after learning the news, and called Prince “the last of the greatest living performers” in an emotional post. Bieber responded with the message, “Well not the last greatest living performer.”
Bieber’s post has since been deleted, but the damage has been done as screenshots of the comment have been shared across the web.
